vroom vroom

in this world, people of opposite sex have fascinations with things that the other sex usually can't get. i know i'm being horrendously stereotypical but these examples work. girls have their shopping, boys have their cars.

i won't explain the mechanics behind shopping and why retail therapy is so...well therapeutic. that would take all day. what i want to know is...what is the fascination that boys have with their cars?

(i doubt you would have realised by now, but i got...er...persuaded to watch the fast and the furious 3 the other night)

ok so back to what i was saying...is it just a case of "my car is bigger than your car"? or in their typical fashion of simplifying things...is it a metaphor for life? "i don't agree with what you are saying so let's settle it with a race"

i wonder if they're on to something.

Pfffft, as if there's a rationale behind shopping. I don't know about anyone else, but cars are very very intricate toys and can often be very temperamental. One thing's for sure, they need a whole lot of TLC to run at their optimal level.

A food for thought, though. If all men, who knew the ins and outs of their cars (and probably a whole lot of other cars), invested all their passion and knowledge into other fields, we would have so many specialists for things we didn't even know we needed a specialist for. It's amazing just how much information these men can retain in regards to their cars yet are unable to remember an anniversary or a pertinent birthday.

Plus with cars, as is with retail therapy, you're guaranteed reciprocity for everything that you put in. We know this even before we embark on our separate ventures. You put love into a car, she will reward you and give you all that she has. You go out for some retail therapy, ultimately you'll feel better (for unknown reasons) for it. There aren't that many things we have that absolute guarantee and it's certainly not for all people.

But despite it all, I probably won't see the fast and furious III. I can check out the cars from a website without some butt ugly guys hovering all over them. The poor cars ...

Disregard all the mistakes in the above post ... it was made right after seeing Korea draw with France and I'm just too caught up with THAT moment to keep my thoughts coherent at the same time.
